The aims and objectives of the Illinois Junior Academy of Science Region 2 are focused on providing students with opportunities to develop strategic thinking and research skills that will impact their future academic endeavors, be they related to a scientific field or other pursuits. By exposing the student to multiple resources, development of experiments or design, observation, and collections of data, and organization and presentation of their investigations, students will gain insight into current issues and strengthen the creative thinking skills required to succeed in a future that will surely be dependent on a progressive, studied approach to problem-solving. Students will be given the opportunity to present their work at the IJAS Regions 2 Science Fair, where all members of Chicago Non-Public Schools participate and top awards are acknowledged. Top-scoring students are then eligible for competition at the annual IJAS State Science Fair.
